Some of you that know me, also know my alter ego Sally. Sally takes on so many personas ... basically anything that starts with the letter "S." Just to introduce you to a few of Sally's personas I'm going to let her do the blogging today.
Seriously, Sensitive Sally -A tight squeeze rest upon my heart as I scroll through these photos and think about my life and where this past month has brought me. I landed my first big girl job teaching pre-k in Oxford and I quickly packed all that was familiar into cardboard boxes and said goodbye to my first real home. There is an ugly colored duplex on North Church Street that will always have a piece of my heart.
In attempts to be Social Sally, I wandered into Square books frequently for hot tea and conversation. I frequented so often, that I can recite most of the employees names by heart. Everett, Beckett, and Joseph to name a few. There is something enchanting and magical about books, just being around them you are surrounded by people you have never met and their powerful stories. Some stories that will make you laugh, some that will make you cry, and some that will make you shake in your boots. Words are so powerful. It's hard to feel alone when you are surrounded by so many people that want to share their story with you. Social Sally says yes to bookstores.

Silly Sally developed a ridiculous crush on Dent May, a local musician with a psychedelic style and a quirky sense of humor. Dent is known to date an old lady which is perfect because I have an internal granny. He recently released his new album Warm Blankets and I attended his release party at The End of All Music (I of course had to take a mirror pic in the bathroom) I nearly melted when he signed my vinyl "To Ali-xoxoxo Dent May."
Oxford has so many great music venues.Dancing at Proud Larry's with my musician crush Dent has definitely been the highlight of my Oxford adventures. Then, I realized he signs "Xoxoxo Dent May" on everyone's merch. *SIGH*

Settled Sally- I have slowly unpacked my boxes and began to feel more at home in my new space. You will have to meet my fun roommate soon! The best part about living in Oxford is that it's just down the road from sweet Tupelo. It's close enough for my little friend Silas to come and spend the night or a have lunch date at Bottle tree. There is so much to love about Oxford. #loveoxford
A big move can easily put you down in the dumps. A few things that have kept me Sane Sally through this big transition:
-Keeping in contact with the people that love you. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros once said "Home is whenever I'm with you." Home is whenever you are around the people you love.
-It doesn't matter where you are, it's hard to love your environment and the people around you if you don't first love yourself. Taking time to meditate on all that is good and lovely is one way to love yourself. Amber and I recently took a yoga class at Shanti Yoga in Tupelo, be looking for that post soon! It was such a relaxing experience and such good vibes. -I encourage you to love yourself and do the things that you love. I still make frequent visits to the local thrift shop to unwind from long days at work. YOLO!
Tupelo honey, you will always be my first love. Come visit me in Oxford! Adventure awaits.
as Dent May would say
"xoxoxo"
Sincerely,
Sally
